(beginners/intermediate)

  • Guided tasting of 30+ wines
  • Style and quality of wines - understand the impact of grape growing, winemaking and maturation
  • Principal grape varieties - factors Influencing style and quality of wine (8 varieties)
  • Regionally important grape varieties - know the style and quality of wines (22 varieties)
  • Understand how the production process can influence the styles of sparkling and fortified wines.
  • Storage and Service of Wine

Duration: 16 hours class time, plus 11 hours of personal study and revision

Level 2 Specification

WSET Level 3 Award in Wine

 (advanced)

  • Guided tasting of 60+ wines

  • Style, quality and price of wines - identify, understand and explain the principal natural and human factors in the vineyard and in the winery, plus how the law is involved in the production of still, sparkling and fortified wines of the world

  •  Identify and describe the characteristics of the still, sparkling and fortified wines produced in the principal wine producing regions of the world

  • Demonstrate the ability to provide information and advice to customers and staff about wines

Duration: 40 hours class time, plus 52 hours of personal study and revision
